Yorkshire Three Peaks Event 2019

Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge 2019
22nd June 2019
12 hours to complete 24 miles and 5,000 feet scaling three of Yorkshires best known hills!

After our first highly successful Yorkshire Three Peak challenge in 2018, we are pleased to announce that registration for this year’s event is now open!
We are looking for teams and individuals to take on Yorkshires three highest peaks within 12 hours and raise funds for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service Charity.

The Three Peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside are among the best known hills in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The peaks, which form part of the Pennine range, are arranged in a triangle and encircle the heads of the valleys of the River Ribble and of Chapel-le-Dale.

The iconic challenge is to walk the circular route, scaling each peak in turn aiming for a time less than 12 hours. The total walking distance is 39.2km (24.5 miles).

To take part in our Three Peak Challenge there is a registration fee of £30 which covers the costs of putting on the event and looking after your health and safety. We provide an expert team who will look after you and maximise your chances of completing the challenge, they also offer training walks in advance.  Every pound that you raise in addition to your registration fee will help us to support patients during their stay in our hospitals. We ask everyone to aim to raise a minimum of £100 for this challenge.

The walk itself is fully marshalled with checkpoints along the route and your leader will brief you fully on the morning of the walk. You can walk at whatever pace is good for you. We expect most walkers to complete the walk in between 11 and 12 hours. Last year’s fastest competitor competed the challenge in 8 hours and their YAS Record is up for grabs!

We are proud to be running this event in partnership with York Teaching Hospitals Charity and Harrogate Hospitals Charity to enable us to put on their event and provide this expert support. Dani our YAS Charity Manager will be there to support you on the day. She'll be there handing out some additional supplies before the walk and will greet you with a very cheery smile and a certificate when you return and may even see you at a few checkpoints depending how quick you are!

You can register as an individual or as part of a team; why not get a group of you together and support each other.
