The Community Engagement Volunteer role is a role developed with and for existing YAS staff and volunteers to support those who would like to assist or run their own YAS community engagement activities – spreading key messages and skills such as basic life support and what happens when you call 999 emergency services or NHS 111. They also promote careers and volunteering opportunities within the ambulance sector.
We currently have over 20 registered CEVS, who have engaged with an estimated 5,000 members of the public in the past 20 months (to August 2024).
CEVS have access to equipment and support from our established YAS Community Engagement Team. This role allows us to reach even further into our communities and helps the emergency services to build strong bonds and reduce health inequalities. It also provides opportunities for current staff and volunteers who wish to be involved in a different type of activity from their day-to-day role and is very rewarding.
